Bucatini is a thick spaghetti-like pasta with a hole running through the centre. The name comes from Italian: buco, meaning "hole", while bucatomeans "pierced".
Bucatini is common throughout Lazio, particularly Rome.
In Italian cuisine, it is served with Amatriciana sauces: made from "guanciale" (or bacon) and tomato.
